Ryan is a physical education teacher at Stelly’s, with a newly-found love of climbing and a strong coaching background in team sports such as soccer. He is a certified teacher with a Masters of Education in Coaching, and will serve as the coordinator of the academy. He holds his Climbing Gym Instructor 2 certification from the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. Ryan attended Stelly’s Secondary School as a student, and lives on the Peninsula with his wife and two daughters.

Derek Wilding

d

Derek is an ACMG Rock Guide and Level 3 Climbing Gym Instructor as well as the Climbing Director for Mount Royal University’s Recreation Department and a lecturer for the Physical Education and Recreation Studies Department. He works as a course leader and examiner for the ACMG Climbing Gym Instructor and Top Rope Climbing Instructor certification courses that are offered through the Thompson Rivers University Canadian Mountain and Ski Guide program. Derek leads outdoor transition, sport climbing and traditional climbing courses for the Boulders, and will assist students with their outdoor climbing skill development and their preparation for certification courses. He started climbing at an early age and believes that his involvement in the sport and the greater climbing community has been and continues to be a crucial influence in his personal and professional development.

Kimanda Jarzebiak
 kimanda  Kimanda is the Chair of the Boulders Climbing Gym Society, and serves as its Director of Operations. She was the co-founded of the Boulders youth programs, and has her Climbing Gym Instructor Level 3. Kimanda will be assisting students with climbing movement, risk management and leadership development. Kimanda has lead the effort to expand the Boulders Climbing Gym to include its new world-class 60 foot wall, and volunteers as the Manager of Canada’s National Climbing Team, and serves on the Board of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. She also is an examiner and course leader for the Climbing Gym Instructor program run by Thompson Rivers University Canadian Mountain and Ski Guide program. She has climbed on almost every continent in the world.
