GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome Back to the 73 music students who just returned from the music trip to Vancouver (UBC) then Calgary (UofC) then Sun Peaks (Con Brio Festival) over the past 6 days. You were all AMAZING! Congratulations on winning the following Awards:

Junior Band - Silver Choir – Silver Jazz Band - Silver Senior Concert Band – Gold

A huge thank you to Joel Griffith, John Plant, Leila Nazaroff, Trish Duncan and Winona White for chaperoning the trip.

BAKE SALE: Leadership and Youth In Action will be holding a bake sale today at lunch in support of KIVA, the micro-loan organization.  Your money will be used to help people establish better lives for themselves and their families and will continue to be paid forward over time.  Come buy some goodies and support this great project.

REPORT CARDS: Report Cards are available in the main office

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS: Parent Teacher Interviews are on Thursday, May 3rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Appointment bookings are online. Early Dismissal on Thursday at 2:03pm.

HOMEWORK HELP: Don't forget...Homework Help is available everyday in the Learning Commons starting at 7:30am and after school until 4pm.

ATHLETICS 

KAYAK & PADDLING CLUB:A new kayaking and paddling club starting at Stelly’s this May.

The club will hopes to start the week of May 14 and run until the week of June 4th (4 weeks), it will run two hours a week between 3 and 6pm. The club will run out of Pacifica Paddlesports in Brentwood. Cost is $15 a week for rentals. Interested?? Contact Sarah Matheson at smatheson@sd63.bc.ca

Experience Europe with OSEF-ASBL Reciprocal Student Exchanges to France, Belgium or Spain

OSEF-ASBL, is accepting applications for a 3 month Student Exchange or a 1 month Summer Exchange. Students must be 13 to 17 years of age - application deadline is May 15th. TRAINING & EDUCATION:

ALERT FIRST AID with CPR”C”& AED Saturday, May 5, 2018 - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre  Cost is $50.00.  This fun & interactive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during time priority, life threatening emergencies. This course covers initial assessment, disease prevention, secondary survey, airway obstruction, adult/child/infant CPR, & the use of an Automated External Defibrillator. This course also includes recognition & first-aid treatment for head & spine injuries, shock, bleeds, anaphylactic shock, heart attacks & strokes. Participants spend the majority of the course doing hands on first-aid training. By practising with scenarios students gain confidence & learn to react & improvise in emergency situations.
