GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Homework Help is available every morning from 7:10am in the Learning commons and after school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday til 4pm.

 ATHLETICS

Any Boys Grade 9-12 interested in playing Basketball this year please come to a meeting at lunch on Friday in the large Gym.

CAREER CENTRE

UVic School of Health Information Science Open House – Oct 16    The School of Health Information Sciences is hosting its Fall Open House on Wednesday, October 16th, 4:30-6:00pm at UVic’s Cornett Building room A125. Students interested in the life sciences, medicine and/or information technology would be especially interested in these programs.  Students are invited to learn more about this exciting field by talking with faculty and students. Join us for pizza while learning about the rapidly expanding field of information technology in health care!

TRAINING & EDUCATION:

Food Safe Level 1 - Friday Oct. 25Th, 8:30 am –4:30 pm @ SHOAL Centre in Sidney, 10030 Resthaven Drive.  Cost is $50.00 - Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. Food Safe is useful for anyone working in the food service, food retail, or food processing industries. You will learn how to handle food safely in order to prevent food from being contaminated.

Alert First Aid With CPR "C" & AED - Saturday, November 22, 2019 -8:30 am to 4:00 pm @ SHOAL Centre, 10030 Resthaven Drive. Cost is $50.00 -Cash, cheque or credit card is accepted. This fun, interactive, and comprehensive 8-hour course trains people how to react & improvise during life threatening emergencies. This course meets the Adult & Child Licensing Guidelines.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The SHOAL Centre Bridge Club Dinner and Banquet is being held on December 4, Volunteers Needed!! Beacon Community Services is going to be in the Parade! They need students to help decorate the truck and walk in the parade!

Lions Club do Breakfast with Santa (Volunteer Opportunity)- Mary Winspear Centre, November 30th -
Put on our Santa hats, the Lions cook the food and we serve it to the bright eyed young families who come to sit on Santa’s knee and tell him all about their wishes for this Christmas!  For more information on how to help with this fun event, contact Sara at slawton@beaconcs.ca or 250-656-5537

Volunteer Opportunity with REACH Performing Company. Seeking students to volunteer with the REACH Performing Company! GRAD 2020

Grad Parent Information Night is happening on TONIGHT @  7:00 pm in Stelly's Learning Commons. All parents/guardians are asked to attend this information session and learn about the many details of grad year ahead.

POINSETTIA PLANT FUND RAISER: Grads do you want to decrease your Grad Activity fees this year? Grad Poinsettia fundraiser order forms are now available on the Grad Board in the main foyer! Forms are due back Monday, November 18th, 2019.

GRAD PORTRAITS:  Grads, it is time to book your grad photos. Lifetouch is bringing their portable photo studio to Stelly's at the end of October for Grad Portraits, October 28--Nov 7th, 2019. To book your appointment, please go to the website: schedule.prestigeportraits.ca   Make sure you put "Saanichton" under city.  Sitting fee of $25 is due at the time of your appointment (if you know you are not purchasing photos, no sitting fee is required, but we DO need you to have a photo taken for the yearbook). Information posters are posted around the school.  Don't put this off until later, or all of the appointments will be booked up and you will run out of time!

The Peninsula Youth Clinic in  Sidney is open today and every THURSDAY from 5:30 - 7:30pm with both a doctor and mental health clinician on hand.
