A. Overview
You will become an expert on one of the advertising topics identified below.
B. Tasks to be Completed
1) Presentation - deliver a professional quality presentation (5 min) that covers the topic you have chosen. The purpose of this presentation is to teach the main concepts to the rest of the class. Please hand in your presentation (presentation file) below.
2) Documentation - create a professional quality handout that summarizes your presentation. Upload your handout as a PDF.
3) Questions - provide three questions that will be used to check the understanding of the rest of the class at the end of your presentation.

- Laws and Ethics in Advertising - Competition Act, Canadian Code of Advertising Standards, Canadian Advertising Foundation.
- Print Advertising - History/Current Issues regarding Classifieds, Newspaper ads, Posters, Direct Mail ads, Magazine ads, Billboard ads, Transit ads.
- Broadcast Advertising Media- TV, Radio, Product Placements, digital broadcasting/Podcasts.
- Web-Based Advertising - Banners, Pop-ups, Pay-Per-Click, Websites, Blogs, Spam, Profiling with cookies, Ad Blocking.
- Famous Advertising Campaigns
- Developing an Advertising Mix
- Points programs and other promotional advertising
- Packaging
- Logos and Slogans
- Or come up with your own advertising topic. Please tell me what it is though so that I can approve it.
D. Preparing The Presentation
1) Do some research! Explore your topic so that you can teach us something interesting and useful such as:
- Define the terminology
- Research important people/positions
- Identify the history or find the costs
- Find some good and bad examples
- Compare the strengths and weaknesses
- Identify some interesting facts
2) Do some planning! Using a mind map, a storyboard or another planning tool to determine what key concepts you are going to cover and how you will organize this information.
3) Create an outline!
4) Prepare the content!
5) Add some spice!
6) Practice the Presentation!
