Courtenay Taaffe Memorial Scholarship

Courtenay Taaffe was vibrant, determined, talented and dedicated; she had endless energy and enthusiasm for her passions in life, one of which was the sport of rugby. This scholarship was created to honour Courtenay and her many achievements in life.

CRITERIA: To support an outstanding female Stelly’s student entering full-time post secondary education. Awarded to a graduating female student from Stelly’s Secondary School who has demonstrated the following:
  1. Must be eligible for High School graduation in the current year
  2. A member of the Stelly’s Girls Rugby team
  3. A strong work ethic/enthusiastic and determined personality
  4. Participation in school sports/athletics
  5. Acceptance at a post-secondary institution in the same year
In the event that no applicants are members of the Stelly’s Girl’s Rugby Team, then priority will be given to:

A) A female student pursuing a career in Physical Education
B) A female student pursuing a career in Education
DEADLINE: Annually on May 15th but may not be offered when school teams are not running
PROCEDURE: Students need to complete the Stelly's application form and include a scholarship resume or curriculum vitae. This vitae must include a transcript of Grade 11 and 12 marks (predicted or final for all courses), a statement of future plans and goals, a reference letter and confirmation of post-secondary school registration/acceptance. Application forms can be downloaded from the Stelly’s website.
SELECTION: Selection will be made by the Stelly’s Scholarship Committee, in consultation with the Taaffe family. Cheque will be given in September when proof of post secondary attendance is given
